End of Costly Referrals? New CT Scan Centre Opens at Moi Referral Hospital Taita-Taveta

Residents of Taita-Taveta County are set to benefit from improved healthcare services after a new CT scan centre officially began operations at Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi.

The development follows the installation of a modern CT scanner, marking the resumption of CT scan services at the county referral facility after a period of disruption.

According to the county government, the upgraded equipment will provide faster and more accurate diagnostic imaging, helping doctors detect and manage a wide range of medical conditions more efficiently.

The new facility is expected to reduce the need for patients to travel to other counties in search of specialized imaging services, saving families both time and money while improving access to healthcare closer to home.

Andrew Mwadime said the investment forms part of broader efforts by the county administration to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and improve service delivery for residents.

Health experts note that access to CT scan services plays a critical role in diagnosing conditions such as injuries, strokes, cancers and internal organ diseases, making the equipment an important addition to the region's medical capacity.

Will the new CT scan centre mark the beginning of a wider healthcare transformation in Taita Taveta? For many residents, the return of these services represents a significant step toward better and more accessible medical care within the county.
