Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has suggested the possibility of running for the Murang'a seat in the 2027 General Election saying it might be time for a woman to be in charge of the county.
Wahomes words have led to talk about her future as leaders all over the country start getting ready for the 2027 election. The Cabinet Secretary, who used to be the Kandara MP has stayed a political presence in Murang'a and the larger Mount Kenya area. A run for governor would be a comeback to elected office after she joined the Cabinet.
Wahomes idea that a woman should lead Murang'a has brought a focus on gender to the growing competition since the county has never had a woman as governor.
Still she has not officially said she is running so her comments should be seen as a sign of interest, not a campaign.
The 2027 race for governor is expected to get more and more tough as possible candidates start talking to supporters and setting up connections, throughout the county.
