Kiharu Member of Parliament Ndindi Nyoro has officially parted ways with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and announced the formation of a new political party, the People's Party of Kenya. In a statement released yesterday, Nyoro revealed his intention to work closely with opposition leaders, signaling a significant shift in his political stance.
Nyoro’s move creates a fresh political front in the Mt Kenya region, traditionally a stronghold for President William Ruto’s UDA. By aligning with opposition figures, Nyoro aims to foster a broader coalition that could challenge the current political landscape. This development is expected to complicate Ruto’s strategic plans for the 2027 general elections, as it potentially divides his support base in the region.
Political analysts suggest that Nyoro’s departure might inspire other lawmakers to reconsider their allegiances, further shifting the balance of power in Kenya’s political arena. Ruto’s allies are closely monitoring the situation, aware that internal dissent within Mt Kenya could impact the president’s national ambitions. As the political landscape evolves, all eyes will be on how this new alliance shapes the upcoming electoral contests.
