The National Transport and Safety Authority, also known as the NTSA caught 45 people walking on the street for not using the bridge for pedestrians near Nyayo National Stadium.
The National Transport and Safety Authority said these people were stopped by the police because they were walking on the road instead of using the bridge above the road. This is a problem because it can hurt both the people walking and the people driving cars.
The National Transport and Safety Authority is doing this to make the roads safer and to reduce the number of accidents that happen to people walking on the roads.
The National Transport and Safety Authority said they built these bridges for people to cross the road safely especially on roads where cars are going very fast. It is very dangerous to try to cross these roads at ground level.
The people in charge are asking everyone to please use the bridges the lines on the road that say where to cross and the other safe places to cross the road all the time. They are warning people that if they do not follow the traffic rules they will get in trouble.
Many people who care about road safety are worried about how people're crossing the roads, in Kenya. A lot of accidents happen because people are not crossing the roads safely even though there are bridges for them to use.
The National Transport and Safety Authority is asking all people who use the roads to help make the roads safer. They say that if everyone follows the traffic rules we can reduce the number of people who get hurt or die on the roads.
