DCI Launches Elite Team to Combat Organised Immigration Crime

The Director of Criminal Investigations Mohamed I. Amin did something on Thursday. He started the Counter-Organised Immigration Crime Team, also known as the COICT for the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja. This happened after the team finished their training at the Border Police Training Campus in Kanyonyoo, Kitui County.

The Counter-Organised Immigration Crime Team has been trained to stop people who do things like human trafficking, migrant smuggling and making fake documents. They will also stop bad things that happen across borders and threaten the safety of our country and region.

Mohamed I. Amin talked to the officers during the ceremony. Said he was proud of them, for finishing their special training. He told them to be professional, honest and respect peoples rights when they are doing their job.

The Counter-Organised Immigration Crime Team will work with the Border Police Unit, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations and other local and international security agencies. They will share information. Work together to stop bad people from doing bad things across borders.

Starting the Counter-Organised Immigration Crime Team is part of the National Police Services plan to make our borders safer and deal with immigration problems. They will do this by training officers and using new policing methods.

The Counter-Organised Immigration Crime Team will help Kenya protect its borders and work with countries to stop organised crime.
