The former IEBC Commissioner, Commissioner of Independent and Electoral Boundaries (IEBC) Mohamed Abdullahi Sharawe has passed on, a loss of a very well respected personality who was part of Kenya's electoral management system.
Mohamed Abdullahi Sharawe death was confirmed on Monday; however, his family did not reveal the exact cause to be known at first. His departure brought many condolences from leaders, colleagues and the Kenyans who worked with him during his stint at the commission
While at the IEBC, Sharawe was part of the team entrusted with the role of conducting, overseeing and managing Kenya's elections thereby, contributing to the commission's role of holding free, fair and verifiable elections.
As a member of the electoral agency staff, Sharawe worked in a phase when the commission was at the forefront in the conduct of major electoral exercises as well as the constitutional mandates related to voter Registration, election organisation and constituency boundary issues.
It is anticipated that leaders will offer their tribute paying homage to Sharawe's work at public service and his devotion to fortifying Kenya's democratic institutions,
The final rites arrangements will be released to the public by the family on time.
Sharawe’s passing is in conjunction with the current IEBC which is still one of the main discussion centres of the nation due to the country's anticipation of the 2027 General Election plus its continuous quest to bolster confidence in its electoral processes.
