The government has started the Jitume Youth Digital Empowerment Centre at Kitale National Polytechnic. This centre is for young people to learn skills find online work and get careers that use technology.
The Jitume Youth Digital Empowerment Centre has 100 workstations and fast internet. It is also easy for people with disabilities to use.
The people in charge say the centre will help young people get the skills they need to work in the world. The Ajira Digital Programme will teach them how to use computers find work online and get help from mentors.
The government wants to help young people find work by teaching them about jobs and how to start their own businesses online.
The Jitume Youth Digital Empowerment Centre is not a place to use the internet and computers. It is also a place where young people can work together meet people who do similar work and learn how to find jobs.
Now that the Kitale centre is open it joins the Jitume Digital Hubs that are being built around the country. The government wants to make sure everyone has access to the internet and can find work in the world.
The government is telling people in Trans Nzoia County and nearby areas to use the Jitume Youth Digital Empowerment Centre to learn new skills and find work online with companies, from Kenya and other countries.
