Nyandarua Senator John Methu has said that the administration of President William Ruto is not doing a job with the economy. He says that people in Kenya care more about how they will live their lives than they care about what politicians say.
Methu says that regular people want to see that the economy is getting better. They want to be able to buy things they need without spending much money. They want jobs and they want to have more money in their homes.
"Kenyans don't eat speeches. They want the economy in their pockets," Methu said.
He is saying these things at a time when government leaders and opposition leaders are arguing about how well the economy's doing. People are talking about how expensive thingsre taxes and jobs.
Methu thinks that government leaders should work on making things better for people of just talking about it at public gatherings. They should help people in a way that people can see and feel.
This is after President William Ruto talked about what his administration has done at gatherings in Eldoret. He told people in Kenya to look at what his government has accomplished. The projects they have started.
What John Methu is saying is adding to the discussion about the economy. Who will lead the country. The economy is an issue and it will be important, in the 2027 election.
