The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has called Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma to come to the commission. This is because of something he said that the commission thinks is hate speech. NCIC is warning Peter Kaluma that if he does not show up on Wednesday he could be arrested and have to go to court.
NCIC told Peter Kaluma to come and talk to the people who are investigating him. This is part of an investigation into what Peter Kaluma said. It thinks that what Peter Kaluma said might have broken Kenyas laws about hate speech.
If Peter Kaluma does not come to the meeting he could be arrested and have to go to court. The NCIC is very serious about this.
The NCIC is doing this because they want to stop people from saying things that might cause problems before the 2027 General Election.
Recently the NCIC has also started looking into what some other important politicians said. These include former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, Public Service Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku and some other lawmakers. The National Cohesion and Integration Commission thinks they might have also said things that're hate speech.
Peter Kaluma has to go on Wednesday. The people investigating him will ask him questions about what he said. What happens after the meeting will depend on what Peter Kaluma says and what evidence the NCIC has.
This is a deal because Kenya is getting close to the election and people are saying some strong things. The NCIC wants all leaders to be careful, about what they say so that everyone can stay safe and get along.
