Gachagua and Five Other Leaders Under NCIC Scrutiny

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission has started looking into former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretaries Geoffrey Ruku and Aden Duale and three Members of Parliament because of comments that might hurt unity.

The commission says the investigations are about things that were said at public meetings. These things might have gone against rules about hate speech or about encouraging conflict between groups or using political language.

The National Cohesion and Integration Commission is looking at videos, speeches and other proof to see if the leaders broke the National Cohesion and Integration Act or other laws. The commission said the investigations are part of its job to help keep the country and to make sure people live in peace.

This action is happening at a time when there is more politics happening. People are worried about how politics is being talked about as the country gets ready for the 2027 General Election.

The commission said again that all leaders must be careful with what they say in public. They must not say things that could start arguments, between groups or cause fighting.

At the time this was published not all the leaders being looked into had said anything publicly about the commissions action. The commission said what happens next will depend on what the investigations find and what evidence is collected.
