The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority has announced the maximum retail fuel prices for Kenya. These prices are for the period from August 15 to September 14 2026. EPRA said that diesel will be cheaper by KSh5 per litre. However the prices of petrol and kerosene will stay the same.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority made this decision after the government helped by giving KSh938 million to keep fuel prices stable. This was done to protect consumers from changes in oil prices.
Here are the new fuel prices in Nairobi:
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority said that the price of diesel went down. This is because they decided to reduce the price of diesel by KSh5 per litre. EPRA hopes that this will help people who use diesel a lot, like transporters and farmers.
EPRA also said that the prices of petrol and kerosene did not change. This is because the government used some money to keep the prices stable.
The new fuel prices will start on August 15 2026. Will be used until September 14 2026. EPRA will then review the prices again. The new price of diesel might help reduce costs for transport and logistics businesses. However it is not clear if this will lead to prices, for goods or matatu fares.
